Light of Siam No: 9791 E.C. Phuket, Thailand, 27th April 2024.

Prepared by W Bro. Ralph Waldman, PM - Lodge Secretary

We value and treasure all Brother Freemasons, but when a Brother has dedicated sixty-five years of his life to Masonic service, we believe that is something truly special. Therefore, we are truly pleased to honour and recognize Brother Robert Merritt Traister for his fidelity and devotion to Freemasonry. We, the Brethren of Light of Siam, thank him for his friendship and support to the Craft throughout the years.

Allow me to give you a little background on our Brother Robert.

Bro. Robert was born on 21st September 1937. He was initiated into the “Liverpool Grand Lodge No: 501” of New York, United States of America. Brother Robert was a Lewis and was introduced, proposed, and initiated into Freemasonry in his father Bro. Merritt Traister’s Mother Lodge in June 1958. In due time, he was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason on 1st June 1959.

Bro. Robert Traister settled in Thailand, where he joined the Light of Siam No: 9791 E.C. on 22nd December 2013 and remains an active Member.

At our Light of Siam 91st and Regular meeting on 27th April 2024, we were both pleased and honoured to celebrate Bro. Robert’s sixty-fifth (65th) anniversary in Freemasonry. We also recognized his long and dedicated service to the Craft, which took him across the world and through three different constitutions.

Befitting the occasion, in attendance was W Bro. Neale Bruce Avery ADGM of DGLEA to present, on behalf of Bro. Robert Traister’s Mother Lodge Liverpool Grand Lodge No: 501 New York USA, a sixty-fifth (65th) year Apron, Certificates, and Lapel Pins. Light of Siam is proud to have Brother Robert Traister in their midst, always feeling his fraternal warmth. A True Mason.

Editor’s Note:

The Ashlar previously featured an article on Bro. Robert Traister commemorating his 60 years of service, which included details about his army life.
