LODGE OF ST. GEORGE AT THE ANNUAL REMEMBRANCE DAY

Poppies are worn by millions as symbols to remember all of the people who have given their lives for their country in War

Kranji War Memorial , Singapore

Sunday 10th November 2019

The Brethren of Lodge of St. George at the annual Remembrance Day service at Kranji War Memorial in Singapore with Her Excellency Kara Owen, British High Commissioner to Singapore and the Honor Guard of the Singapore Armed Forces. Throughout the commonwealth, the Sunday closest to 11th November marks Remembrance Day to remember all the people who have died in wars, not just World War One as it includes World War Two, and others

For the Lodge St. George’s brethren it is a time honored tradition to attend.

In their October Regular Meeting they conduct a short remembrance ceremony to commemorate those Freemasons who lost their lives during the two world wars or who were interred during the Japanese occupation of Singapore.

It consists of a series of readings and recitations (conducted this year by W. Bros. Bruce Blanckley, Phil Cunningham, Christian Charlton and Peter Allen) followed by a minute’s silence and a poetry recitation at Festive Board (this year Rudyard Kipling’s “The Last of the Light Brigade” performed by W. Bro. Saptak Santra).

On this occasion also present was RW. Bro. Col. Lau Kee Siong, PPGM of the PGL SEA who helps organize the event as part of the SAF Veteran’s League.
