THE IMPORTANCE OF LODGE MENTOR IN THE MASONIC RETENTION

W Bro Petros N. Zenieris
PM of the Lodge of St George No. 1152 EC
It is well known to all that Lodge members’ retention is not an easy task and it seldom comes on its own.
It is rather challenging for members of any lodge to remain committed, knowledgeable and aware of all about Freemasonry immediately or from the beginning of their individual Masonic journey.
Indeed, it takes time, effort and dedication to achieve just that.

Thanks WB Alex for your super quick reply. My Lodge is selecting a Junior Warden for the ensuing year. Some of our Past Masters have different ideas as to the qualifications. This is what I sent out as a guide. Is this too stringent? How does this compare with other Lodges? JUNIOR WARDEN
Please recognize that you will have to make certain sacrifices as the job of a Junior Warden is not a "one or two'' night a month obligation. There is a great deal of planning, studying, and attending involved in in your office.
To be fair to your Lodge brothers you must be prepared to make these sacrifices, work with enthusiasm, not only at your own particular job in the Lodge, but must assist all other officers in the performance of their duties.
By performing well you will earn your way to the next office in MOL Lodge
If for some reason you cannot attend to your duties you are to notify the Worshipful Master and the Secretary as soon as possible. At the same time to arrange with a brother to carry out your steward duties.
Here are some of the Duties of a Junior Warden
1. Attend half yearly and yearly Annual comm
2. Attend all practice meetings
3. The Junior Warden is in charge of the Stewards.
4. It is expected that he will use the Stewards to assist him.
5. On special events that require catering service, the Junior Warden is in charge of arranging the catering needs which includes taking reservations (RSVPs) and coordinating with the caterers.
6. He is expected to attend ALLl meetings
7. To attend all visitations with WM if possible
