Pronunciation of Masonic Terms

ree

In our District, we are fortunate to have a culturally diverse membership, which adds to the richness of the cross-cultural relationships we enjoy. For many of our brethren, English is a second language. Therefore, there are inevitably some errors in the pronunciation of some words, particularly words found in our ritual, which I describe as 'Dickensian' English. Even those of us for whom English is our first language are sometimes prone to error! I have put together an audio guide, to help correct some of the common errors. Click on the link below to download the presentation. I recommend downloading to your computer first before playing, rather than attempt playing directly from the cloud. Happy listening. https://ln5.sync.com/dl/b198c1f80/ecxfxgw2-wtd35xa3-6t9t9vys-ddfmrmg4

Questions for your Preceptor

The Preceptor's Committee was formed to help lodges practice ritual in correct form. We also guide lodges in observing proper Masonic protocol, inside and outside the temple. We are not concerned with the history, meaning and symbolism of Freemasonry. This is the purview of other District education committees.

If you have any questions with respect to the fine art of ritual performance, or Masonic protocol in general, post them here and I or one of my team will do our best to answer. Among the team we have both Emulation and Revised ritual specialists.

Fraternally,

Dennis Heath
